Last year, the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness issued a series of recommendations for improving the Federal permitting and review process for infrastructure projects. Those recommendations led to a Presidential Memorandum in August 2011 on Speeding Infrastructure Development Through More Efficient and Effective Permitting and Environmental Reviews that required agencies to identify and expedite a set of priority projects and to publicly track their status.
