“Trafficking In Persons” and human trafficking are umbrella terms used to describe the activities involved when someone obtains or holds a person in compelled service. In order to increase public awareness, the Department of Defense created the Trafficking in Persons Awareness App. The Department of Defense describes:

This App is intended to provide training and reference material about the realities of Trafficking In Persons (TIP). This training was created by the Office Under the Secretary of Defense (OUSD) and is intended to increase public awareness of TIP, and to help serve to end it.
