History

The SACAH reestablishes the former Secretary's Advisory Committee for Foreign Animal and Poultry Diseases. The reestablished committee is broader in scope and will provide advice on agricultural matters including:

Public health
Conservation of natural resources
Stability of livestock economies
Livestock disease management and traceability strategies
Prioritizing animal health issues

Purpose

The purpose this advisory committee is to:

Advise the Secretary on strategies, policies, and programs that prevent, control, or eradicate diseases of national significance
Lead the dialogue on public health concerns incorporating One Health principles.
Engage the public on:
- Livestock disease management
- Traceability strategies
- Animal health priorities

Transparency

Advisory committee meetings may be held in person or via teleconference. Whatever the venue, public participation is essential for all SACAH meetings. Interested parties may sign up to attend or participate in public meetings or teleconferences by sending an email to SACAH.Management@aphis.usda.gov. Comments, suggestions, or questions for the committee members’ consideration may likewise be submitted via this email address.

All Committee documents, agenda, minutes, and recordings for each public meeting will be posted on both the SACAH Web site and FIDO.gov, which is the GSA Web site for all advisory committees government-wide.
