Non-Immigrant Visas
Welcome to the Non-immigrant Visa Unit of U.S. Embassy Niamey. We issue visas to persons of diverse backgrounds for temporary travel to the U.S. for vacation, business, study, family visits, or for other purposes.
Citizens of some countries are eligible to travel without a visa to the U.S. under our Visa Waiver Program. If you are not eligible to use this program, please follow the application procedures below to receive your non-immigrant visa.
Only a U.S. Consular Officer may issue a US visa. Most visa applicants must have an interview with a U.S. Consular Officer before he or she can determine visa eligibility.
How to Apply
- Acquire and bring your passport(s):
Current passport, valid for a minimum of 180 days
All previous passports
Dual nationals must bring both passports (current and/or expired) - Get a U.S. visa size photo (you will need to upload it into your online visa application and provide the original photo at your visa interview:
2x2 inches / 5x5 centimeters
Colored photo on white background
Head garments may not be worn
Face must be facing forward and clearly visible from hairline to chin and from ear to ear - Complete a DS-160 Online Application Form:
Each person applying for a visa must complete a separate form
Upload your photo (JPEG file format / 240 KB or less)
Print only the application confirmation - Pay your fees:
Students and exchange visitors must pay their SEVIS Fee with DHS

Please be advised that by applying for a U.S. visa you are providing the Consulate AUTHORIZATION to verify the documents presented including bank statements. The Consulate will verify THE AUTHENTICITY of the said document(s) with the respective institutions that issued the document(s)

Visa Fees
Nonimmigrant visa application and border crossing card processing fees (per person):
- Non-petition-based nonimmigrant visa (except E category): $160
- H, L, O, P, Q and R category nonimmigrant visa: $190
- E category nonimmigrant visa $270
- K category nonimmigrant visa $240
- Border crossing card -age 15 and over ( valid 10 years): $160
- Border crossing card - under age 15. For Mexican citizen if parent or guardian has or is applying for a border crossing card ( valid 10 years): $15
Reciprocity Fees
In some cases, you may also have to pay a "Reciprocity fee"once the visa has been authorized, but not yet issued.
Reciprocity fee varies according to the type of the visa or the nationality of the applicant.
Any applicable reciprocity fee must be paid to the Consulate's Cashier with CFA or USD cash after the interview.

When the nonimmigrant visa application processing fee is not required:
- Applicants for A, G, C-3, NATO and diplomatic visas (defined in 22 CFR 41.26): No Fee
- Applicants for J visas participating in official U.S. Government sponsored educational and cultural exchanges: No Fee
- Replacement of machine-readable visa when the original visa was not properly affixed or needs to be reissued through no fault of the applicant: No Fee
- Applicants exempted by international agreement as determined by Visa Services, including members and staff of an observer mission to United Nations Headquarters recognized by the UN General Assembly, and their immediate families: No Fee
- Applicants traveling to provide charitable services as determined by Visa Services: No Fee
- U.S. Government employees traveling on official business: No Fee

When the nonimmigrant visa issuance fee is not required:
- An official representative of a foreign government or an international or regional organization of which the U.S. is a member; members and staff of an observer mission to United Nations Headquarters recognized by the UN General Assembly; and applicants for diplomatic visas as defined under item 22(a); and their immediate families: No Fee
- An applicant transiting to and from the United Nations Headquarters: No Fee
- An applicant participating in a U.S. Government sponsored program: No Fee
- An applicant traveling to provide charitable services as determined by Visa Services: No Fee

- Transportation letter for Legal Permanent Residents of U.S.: $300
- Application for Waiver of 2 year foreign residency requirement (J Waiver),Data Sheet, Form 3035: $230
- Application for Waiver of immigrant visa ineligibility (collected for BCIS and subject to change): $195
- Refugee or significant public benefit parole case processing: No Fee
- U.S. Visa fingerprinting: $85
