Commander, United States Military Entrance Processing Command

Captain Eric W. Johnson is the commander of the United States Military Entrance Processing Command, headquartered in North Chicago, Ill.

Captain Johnson enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve in 1980 and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in May 1986. In March 1987, he reported onboard the supercarrier USS INDEPENDENCE, where he qualified as a surface warfare officer, and served as main propulsion and electronic warfare division officer. In December 1989, Captain Johnson reported onboard the destroyer tender USS CAPE COD as damage control assistant and chief engineer. In June 1991, Captain Johnson reported to Navy Recruiting District, Philadelphia, where he served as officer recruiter, officer programs department head, and enlisted programs department head. He transitioned to the Navy Reserve in September 1993 and was recalled to active duty in February 1995. He then served as a Navy Reserve officer recruiter in New York and Pennsylvania. In November 1996, Captain Johnson transferred to Naval Reserve Recruiting Command, Detachment Seven, Denver, Colo., and served as an enlisted programs officer. He was designated a full-time support officer in July 1998. He transferred to Naval Reserve Readiness Command, Region Six, Washington, D.C., in March 1999, where he served as director of manpower and personnel management. Captain Johnson assumed command of Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Center, Amityville, N.Y., in March, 2001. From October 2002, until December 2004, he served as commander and executive officer of Naval Reserve Recruiting Command Area Northeast, Washington, D.C. From December 2004 to May 2007, Captain Johnson served as Navy Recruiting Command liaison officer on the Staff of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (N1). In May 2007, Captain Johnson was assigned to Navy Recruiting District, Philadelphia as executive officer. He was designated a human resource officer in 2007 and earned a master of systems analysis degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in March 2008. Captain Johnson assumed command of Navy Recruiting District Philadelphia in September 2008. In July 2009, he reported to Headquarters, Navy Recruiting Command, Millington, Tenn., and served as chief of staff and director of operations.

Captain Johnson’s military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, four Meritorious Service Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and service medals and ribbons.
