The American Citizen Services (ACS) section maintains offices at the Embassy and in each of the Consulates in Canada. Due to our proximity to the U.S., the ACS section may refer inquiries concerning entitlements and benefits to the nearest appropriate regional field office within the U.S.
The ACS section provides applications for Social Security numbers to U.S. citizens. Upon reviewing the application and accompanying documents, these are certified and forwarded for processing to the nearest SSA office along the U.S./Canada border.
