The lack of affordable housing is the principle cause of family homelessness. Across the county, local United Ways are addressing the root of this problem by helping families break the cycle of poverty and financial dependence. United Ways are helping families in a variety of ways including financial counseling, individual savings accounts, tax preparation, job training, and emergency food, rent, and utility assistance. Additionally, local United Ways are also supporting innovative programs directly targeted to youth and families at-risk of homelessness.
