Commerce Trade Official Leads Delegation to Landmark Meeting in Vienna
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe holds inaugural Economic and Environmental Dimension Implementation Meeting
VIENNA, Austria - Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Market Access and Compliance Michael Camuñez is leading the U.S. delegation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s (OSCE) first-ever Economic and Environmental Dimension Implementation Meeting in Vienna, from October 17-19.
The OSCE is the largest regional security organization in the world, comprising 56 participating states in Europe, Central Asia, and North America. Its work takes place across three dimensions, the Politico-Military, Economic and Environmental, and Human.
“The U.S. Government is highly committed to making this dimension effective and dynamic,” Camuñez said. “We will do our part in ensuring that our economic and environmental commitments receive the same level of attention and scrutiny that those in the political-military and human dimensions currently enjoy.”
The U.S. delegation will review the implementation of member countries’ commitments in the areas of economic and environmental cooperation, development and integration. Camuñez will deliver remarks on Tuesday that focus on the importance of good governance and anti-corruption in the region.
Camunez travels to Brussels, October 19-20, to meet with senior EU officials and members of the private sector to advance the Transatlantic Economic Conference’s agenda seeking deeper integration with the EU on standards and regulations, innovation, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property rights protection.
