About Colorado: Four Corners Region

The Four Corners region gets its name from the point at which southwestern Colorado meets the corners of Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. The Four Corners region has much to offer. Popular attractions in the area include: Mesa Verde National Park, Chimney Rock National Monument, the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Train and Durango Mountain Ski Resort. The mountains surrounding Durango make it a popular location for outdoor enthusiasts, featuring mountain biking, hiking, fishing and camping.

Job Training
If you need any additional job training or if you are a veteran, Workforce Center staff will connect you the La Plata County Veterans Service Office, 1970 E. Third Ave, 970-759-0117.

Education
For opportunities to improve your education, the Four Corners region is home to Fort Lewis College and Southwest Community College. They offer two- and four-year degree programs in technical and academic fields that can make you more competitive in today's economy. Each of these campuses offers night classes and flexible schedules, as well as staff to help determine if you might be eligible for financial aid.

    Four years ago today, President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act into law, ensuring a fair day in court for victims of gender-based pay discrimination. This law was a victory for women everywhere in the continuing fight for equal pay for equal work. However, our fight is far from over: It has been 50 years since the passage of the Equal Pay Act, yet Colorado women still make on average 79 cents to every dollar men make.
