 Heidelberg is a city in the south-central part of Germany. It is located in the Baden-Württemberg state. It is a historical city that is significant for many reasons. The main attraction to the city is the Heidelberg Castle (Schloss) that dates back to early 1200's and was home to many Kings and had other significant duties. Currently the city of Heidelberg includes many neighboring hamlets and is home to over 125,000 people. Within the old city (altstadt) is a picturesque Haupstrasse (main street). Just a few streets away is the Neckar river which runs through the area. Crossing the Neckar river is the historic bridge.
