B.O.S.P. (Better Opportunities for Single Parents)

B.O.S.P will assist you in: locating valuable resources (for Active Duty personnel, Family Members of Active Duty, Retirees, DA Civilians and Veterans). Link individuals with resources they may not know exist and make every effort to ensure everyone receives the needed assistance. Help encourage parents to maintain an active involvement in their child's education. Identify support services which encompass the needs of the Single Parents within Fort Bliss, El Paso, and surrounding communities.

Fort Bliss was established in 1848, originally as a cavalry outpost but later served as an Infantry and Air Defense Artillery post. Today, Fort Bliss is home to the 1st Armored Division, 32d Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Brigade Modernization Command (BMC), Joint Task Force North, William Beaumont Hospital, and the German Air Forces Command.

Soldiers, Civilians, and their Families are the number one priority for Team Bliss. We focus on training tough, disciplined, and fit Soldiers for deployments. Our quality of life is bolstered by the largest PX, new medical facilities, state-of-the-art fitness centers, and numerous recreational activities around El Paso. We are constructing energy-efficient housing and striving towards NetZero---producing as much energy as we consume--for waste, water, and energy by December 31, 2015.

The future of the Army is here! Fort Bliss is rapidly establishing itself as the premier installation in the United States Army. We have Infantry, Stryker, Heavy Brigade Combat Teams with support from Aviation, Fires, Air Defense, Sustainment, Signal, and Military Police units on Fort Bliss. We are a critical hub within the US Army Force Generation Model. This year we will deploy two Brigade Combat Teams, two MP Companies and two ADA battalions in support of OEF and OND. Simultaneously, we will transition one Heavy Brigade Combat Team into a Stryker Brigade Combat Team while another Heavy Brigade conducts critical test and evaluation events for the United States Army.

Fort Bliss is geographically the largest Army post and joint training area with over 26,000 active duty military, 34,000 Family Members, and still growing. We also employ over 4,800 Civilians and provide various services to over 32,000 military retirees. In addition to our resident Team Bliss members, 5th Armor, 402d Field Artillery Brigade, and Garrison also continue to mobilize and de-mobilize over 22,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines annually.
