American Medical Association Release

2/14/2013 - WASHINGTON -- Assistant Air Force Surgeon General, medical force development and nursing services, Major General Kimberly Siniscalchi, M.S.N., received the American Medical Association's (AMA) top government service award in health care, the Dr. Nathan Davis Award for Outstanding Government Service. She was honored at the AMA's National Advocacy Conference in Washington, D.C.
on Feb. 12.

"Maj. Gen. Siniscalchi's leadership has helped 34,000 medical personnel care for over 2.6 million patients across the world," said AMA Board Chair Steven J. Stack, M.D. "She oversaw the historic merger of 64 distinct enlisted medical training programs into one institution, creating the largest medical education campus in the world."

Maj. Gen. Siniscalchi is one of seven recipients of the Dr. Nathan Davis Award for Outstanding Government Service this year. The award is named after the AMA's founder and recognizes elected and career officials in federal, state and municipal service who have made outstanding contributions to the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health.

"The Dr. Nathan Davis Awards provide the AMA the opportunity to recognize government officials who have dedicated their careers to the advancement of public health," said Dr. Stack. "The honorees represent all sectors of government and show what can be accomplished when we work together to address some of our nation's most pressing health care issues."

Maj. Gen. Siniscalchi was nominated for this award by the Surgeon General Lt. Gen. Thomas W. Travis, M.D. This year marks the 24th anniversary of the Dr. Nathan Davis Awards.
