Fourth/Fifth/Sixth Grade

Grade 4 - 5 - 6

The student population at KBES has decreased over the past several years, and DoDEA has restructured the school to create classrooms that practice flexibility as they balance the concepts of multiage and combination classroom structures. Our grade four/five/six classroom at KBES is a mixed-age setting. The overall goal of the class is to meet the individual needs of the diverse student population experiences. DoDEA teachers believe that the multi-age setting can foster both social and academic advantages for the students. Education within the classroom is child-centered and combines themed-units of study with DoDEA standards being the driving force behind the teaching and learning.  The adopted texts, as well as other materials, are the tools that augment the learning environment. The established educational environments at KBES provide opportunities for the development of several practical life skills, such as leadership potential, verbal and written communication, conflict management techniques, cooperative learning traits, and responsibility enhancement.
