Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
Beginning this year, the IRS has mandated that you must have your Social Security Card or a Social Security Number verification letter, as well as that of any individual you are claiming as a dependent or exemption. Please make sure you bring these documents with you, as we will not be able to accept any other document or form to verify your Social Security Number.

The VITA program provides free individual income tax preparation for all military personnel and dependants eligible for legal assistance (e.g. active duty, retirees, reservists, dependants, etc.). The program is a partnership between the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Military.

Directions to VITA

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance center (VITA) has begun taking appointments for units of all sizes to complete their taxes.

VITA is willing to set up times to block off our tax services for your units to enhance troop welfare and preparedness. Further, the center now has the ability to send tax preparers to your units to bring Marines up to full tax prepared readiness.

As the tax season moves forward, VITA will become busier and will not be able to provide these options, so please contact VITA ASAP. Your Marines deserve to have their full refund for free and not have to pay the costs charged by commercial options.

VITA is a service provided by Camp Pendleton at no charge to your Marines. If you would like more information or to set up a time for your units please contact VITA at 763-2519 or 763-2518.
