Marine Corps Detachment at the Quartermaster School

Welcome to Marine Corps Detachment Fort Lee, VA

Marine Corps Detachment (MCD) Fort Lee, VA was established in 1983. Its mission is to develop, support, manage and provide resident, entry, intermediate and career individual-skill level, standards based training and act as a proponent for assigned specialty communities in order to support the specified Military Occupational Specialty manpower requirements of the operating forces. The Detachment is organized into a headquarters (HQ), two companies, two MARCORREPs and one subordinate detachment.

Prior to the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process, the Detachment was comprised of four Military Occupational Specialty producing schools (MOS) which now comprise Company A. These four school houses are responsible for training entry-, career-, and advanced-level Enlisted Marines and Officers as a Personnel Retrieval and Processing (PRP) Specialist (0471), Airborne and Air Delivery Specialist (0451), Bulk Fuel Specialist (1391), Food Service Specialist (3381). Marine Enlisted Aide (3372), Mortuary Affairs Officer (0407), Air Delivery Officer (0405), Bulk Fuel Officer (1390) and Food Service Officer (3302).

Following the 2005 BRAC process, MCD Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland and MCD Redstone Arsenal, Alabama merged with MCD Fort Lee from Fiscal Year 2009-2011, comprising what is now Company B. They are responsible for training entry-, career-, and advanced-level Enlisted Marines and Officers as a Small Arms Repairer Technician (2111), Towed Artillery Systems Technician (2131), Light Armored Vehicle Repairer/Technician (2147), Main Battle Tank Repairer/Technician, Machinist (2146), Electro-Optical Ordnance Repairer (2171), Ammunition Technician (2311), Refrigeration Mechanic (1161), Metal Worker and Ammunition Technicians (1316), Ordnance Vehicle Maintenance Officer (2110), Weapons Repair Officer (2120), Electro-Optic Instrument Repair Officer (2125) and Ammunition Officer (2340).

During Fiscal Year 2011, a reorganization of Formal Learning Centers (FLC) within Training Command realigned two MARCORREPs and one subordinate detachment under MCD Fort Lee. MARCORREP Transportation School located at Fort Eustis, VA trains all approved MOSs in mobility and transportation courses within the U.S. Army Transportation School. MARCORPREP Judge Advocate School located in Charlottesville, VA instructs sixteen different legal courses to Marines in 4400 MOSs. MCD School of Music located at NAB Little Creek, VA trains entry-, career-, and advanced-level Marine Musicians in Basic Musician, Music Unit Leader, Audition Training and Sound Reinforcement courses for Enlisted Conductor (5519), Drum Major (5521), Small Ensemble Leader (5522), Instrument Repairer Technician (5523) and Musician (5524).

Marine Officers attending the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course (CLC3) at the Army Logistics University are trained as well.

MCD Fort Lee now maintains a staff of more than 190 Marines and has a yearly throughput of nearly 4000 students. In addition to training Marines, these schools are responsible for being proponents for their Military Occupational Specialties (MOS). This includes writing/updating Joint, USMC, and multi-service doctrine, providing input to MOS issues, e.g., organizational changes, billet assignments, MOS Roadmaps, and working with Marine Corps Systems Command on new and modified equipment.
