Letter To Ranking Member Issa Regarding DOT's Use of ARRA Signage

Summary

On August 17, we responded to Congressman Issa's request to report on DOT's policies and guidance on the use of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) signage.  We found that two of five DOT Operating Administrations (OAs) receiving ARRA funds--Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)--originally required ARRA recipients to post signage to publicly identify the source or expenditure of ARRA funds.  FTA and FRA have relaxed their original ARRA signage requirements and currently all five OAs encourage, rather than require, recipients to post signs.
