Five Former Virginia Truck Drivers Sentenced for their Roles in Falsifying Drivers’ Logbooks

Summary

On November 10, Wayne S. Crawford, Michael Elam, Melvin Jackson, Charles Lyons, and Richard McGhee, all former divers for K&C Trucking, Inc., Rustburg, VA, were sentenced in U.S. District Court in Lynchburg, VA for their roles in falsifying driver logbooks to conceal violations of FMCSA ‘hours of service’ regulations. All five men had previously pled guilty to charges of making false statements and conspiracy. Crawley was sentenced to 60 days home confinement; Jackson was fined $1,500; and McGhee, Elam, and Lyons were each fined $500. Sentencing for two K&C Trucking Inc. executives, a dispatcher, and two other drivers, who had also pled guilty on related charges, is scheduled for January 18, 2006.
