Sentencing of Retired State Trooper for CDL Fraud

Summary
Ronald W. Thompson, of Lucedale, MS, a former state trooper with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, was sentenced by a U.S. District Court judge in Gulfport, MS, to a $1,000 fine and 2 years' probation for his role fraud involving commercial driver’s licensing (CDL) in Mississippi. Thompson was charged with creating bogus CDL test score sheets indicating applicants received passing scores on Federally required CDL tests were they had not even taken the test. OIG investigated this case with the FBI, Mississippi Highway Patrol, and Alabama Department of Public Safety, with assistance from FMCSA.
