About the Program

The Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology service is an integral part of health care. We help veterans and their families with problems associated with hearing, balance/dizziness, tinnitus, and speech and language disorders. Audiologists and speech-language pathologists are located both in the inpatient and outpatient areas.

Health Services Offered

The scope of services offered by the Audiology section includes

  • diagnostic hearing evaluations
  • evoked potential testing
  • amplification assessment and fitting, if eligible
  • hearing aid repairs and follow-up
  • cochlear implant candidacy testing and follow-up mapping
  • audiologic rehabilitation
  • vestibular/balance assessment and rehabilitation
  • tinnitus assessment and rehabilitation
  • auditory and vestibular research
  • compensation and pension exams

The scope of services offered by the Speech-Language Pathology section includes

  • dysphagia (swallowing)
  • modified barium swallow studies
  • voice disorders
  • laryngectomy rehabilitation (including TEP voice prostheses)
  • motor speech disorders
  • augmentative and alternative communication devices
  • dysfluency
  • cognitive reorganization (dementia)
  • cognitive-communication disorders
