About the Program
The Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology service is an integral part of health care. We help veterans and their families with problems associated with hearing, balance/dizziness, tinnitus, and speech and language disorders. Audiologists and speech-language pathologists are located both in the inpatient and outpatient areas.
Health Services Offered
The scope of services offered by the Audiology section includes
- diagnostic hearing evaluations
- evoked potential testing
- amplification assessment and fitting, if eligible
- hearing aid repairs and follow-up
- cochlear implant candidacy testing and follow-up mapping
- audiologic rehabilitation
- vestibular/balance assessment and rehabilitation
- tinnitus assessment and rehabilitation
- auditory and vestibular research
- compensation and pension exams
The scope of services offered by the Speech-Language Pathology section includes
- dysphagia (swallowing)
- modified barium swallow studies
- voice disorders
- laryngectomy rehabilitation (including TEP voice prostheses)
- motor speech disorders
- augmentative and alternative communication devices
- dysfluency
- cognitive reorganization (dementia)
- cognitive-communication disorders
