34The PCXIN is recognized as the best in the Corps of Engineers at managing its inland navigation program. This enviable status is a result of the substantial investment in developing the technical and managerial expertise of our District and Division staffs over the past 22 years. Creation of the Navigation Center to provide the capability for system planning has contributed greatly to the advancement of the LRD program. Our Navigation Studies resulted in combined construction value of over $5 billion. The success of these studies has given LRD a solid record of performance and a reputation for producing quality products, allowing us to support a long-range program that includes studies for the entire Ohio River and for the Great Lakes system.

All aspects of the navigation program benefit from the activities and capabilities of the PCXIN. While the Center is vital for successful completion of feasibility reports and project authorization, its support of PED, construction and O&M activities is equally important.
