President Obama suffered an injury to his lip last Friday while playing basketball with family and friends. After one of his fellow players accidentally hit the president with his elbow, the White House Medical Unit gave Mr. Obama 12 stitches to help heal the injury, using a special kind of fiber that is designed to minimize scarring. How is the president doing now?

The injury doesn’t appear to have stopped the president from keeping an active schedule. He was seen this weekend attending a local university basketball game with his wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha, and he returned to the basketball court himself to play a game with his daughters.

This morning he delivered a statement to the press, announcing a pay freeze for federal civilian workers and calling on all members of Congress to work together to address the country’s budget deficit. He also mentioned that his doctors have given him a “clean bill of health.”
