NOAA and Department of Commerce (DOC) are placing new focus on performance-based management. Evaluation of NOAA’s performance toward meeting societal outcomes are being used to judge the effectiveness of the agency’s processes and policies, and inform management focus on improving performance. DOC has instituted a Balanced ScoreCard (BSC) process to achieve an alignment of DOC strategies to execution within its bureaus. NOAA is creating its own BSC showing how NOAA’s Next Generation Strategic Plan objectives contribute to the overall strategies of the Department.
The Office of Education contributes three performance measures to the NOAA BSC. Two of these measures rely on data collected from other NOAA programs. The table below contains the three education measures included in the NOAA Balance ScoreCard.
