Purpose:
The programs mission is to provide guidance through assessment and leadership; and ultimately, to assist the prisoner in making the necessary changes to become a more productive service member and citizen.
The programs section consist of a Programs Officer, Chaplain, Programs Chief, Treatment Specialist, Senior Counselor, counselors, Education NCO, and clerks.
The Programs Section is responsible in the areas of indoctrination, rehabilitation and restoration programming. They are also responsible for initial, follow-up, and pre-separation counseling. Provides programs tailored to the needs of the prisoners and the service, and a system, which recognizes, rewards and encourages constructive change and acceptable behavior in prisoners.
The counselors and Treatment Specialist provide direct and indirect individual and group counseling to confined persons. Assists in their weekly performance and program evaluations Co-facilitates in group therapy programs. Proper training in-group counseling techniques are a part of the formal training for each counselor and/or discussion leader.
Focus of Effort:
To confront and assist the prisoner in identifying the source of the deviant behavior; and to assist him in modifying his belief system and behavior toward the particular act. The following groups are available at the Camp Pendleton Base Brig: All groups are conducted by either the Treatment Specialist, Brig Counselor, Guest Experts, or Volunteers.
Sex Offenders Group:
Usually lasts six months, and is available only to post-trial prisoners.
Violent Offenders Group:
Usually lasts six months, and is available only to post-trial prisoners.
Stress and Anger Management:
Usually lasts two months, and is available only to post-trial prisoners. Prisoners are educated in anger management techniques, effective communication, conflict resolution and other helpful areas of knowledge to control their emotions, cognitive behavioral tactics.
Addictions Group:
Usually lasts three months, and is open to only post-trial prisoners. This group deals with all issues surrounding addictions. For example, relapse prevention, values, costs of addictions, loses, tolerating affective states, stress management, life management, and recovery issues.
Antisocial Behavior Group:
Usually lasts six months, and is available to only post-trial prisoners. For larceny, arson, pimping, child pornography.
AA/NA:
These are on a voluntary basis, and attendance is not recorded. It is a twelve-step recovery process for monitoring sobriety.
The Most Excellent Way:
Is a religious based recovery program for monitoring sobriety.

- (MASP) Math And SP: Joint Education Center (JEC) Central Texas basic math and English skills conducted by a volunteer and last about 1 month. This class is open to post trial only.
