March 25, 2011

ALL Region and Wing Commanders, All Region and Wing Directors of Safety,

With the publication of a new CAPR 62-1, Civil Air Patrol Safety Responsibilities and Procedures, Gen Courter in collaboration with the National Safety Team, has graciously extended the required completion date of the “Intro to CAP Safety” course to 31 May 2011. Please communicate this to your unit leaders and members and please thank everyone that has completed the course to date for their efforts and continued support of safety within CAP.

This extension will allow CAP’s IT department  to properly get required notification programming completed to support automatic notifications and integration of safety requirements into eServices and Ops Quals.  This will also benefit the members of CAP that have attempted to take the course and had difficulties getting the course to record.  Gen Courter directed the National Safety Team to continue to work with the IT department to ensure future concerns with new technology have been processed.  The concerns in recent months have been heard and the intent of CAP’s safety program is to be user friendly, simple, and meaningful.

Thank you for your continued support of CAP Safety.
