Employment with USAID in Nigeria

USAID/Nigeria is firmly committed to the principles of equal opportunity and fair employment practices, both of which are integral parts of the Mission’s recruitment and employment policies. When filling a vacancy, the Mission attempts to recruit candidates who are not only qualified for a given position, but who also have the potential to expand their skills and knowledge while working at USAID/Nigeria. When there is a vacancy, USAID/Nigeria recruits either locally or internationally, depending on the type of position, by placing a job announcement in publications with wide distribution. The announcement includes a description of the position, the qualifications required, the procedure for applying, and other pertinent information. What follows in this section is general information about the types of employment opportunities available at USAID/Nigeria and how to find out about specific vacancies.

Current Vacancies

Many of the vacancies at USAID/Nigeria are filled by Nigerian citizens recruited from within Nigeria. Unless otherwise specified, these positions are reserved for Nigerian citizens. FSN vacancies are advertised locally in national newspapers (This Day, The Guardian, Punch). To apply for a position, please follow instructions as described within the vacancy announcement. Employment information for Nigerian citizens is also available from the Personnel division of the Executive Office at USAID/Nigeria.

USAID/Nigeria also recruits for a limited number of local-hire USPSC vacancies (positions to be filled by U.S. citizens currently resident in Nigeria).
