ATTENTION ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY:  It is imperative that all military members understand the difference between their annual requirements under MRC.

A vision screening consists of basic acuity testing and is an annual requirement of all military members regardless of spectacle use or not.  In most cases, this can be done at the unit level and annotated by unit MEDPROS representative.

A vision (eye) exam is an annual requirement of those militray members who have been prescribed prescription eyewear.  These service members are required to have two pair of glasses as well as inserts for their protective masks.

National Guard/Reserve/AIT:  National Guard and Reserve Component Service Members are not authorized eye exams as covered under TRICARE.  Those attending Advanced Invidual Training (AIT) at Fort Lee may be seen at the Eagle Clinic for eye problems but will not be given eye examinations.  AIT Soldiers will book appointments through their company leadership by having a Platoon Sergeant call and schedule the appointment for them.  Platoon Sergeants should call the Eagle Clinic at (804) 734-9253 to schedule appointments for AIT Soldiers.
