A cross-generational crowd of over 400 guests composed of American studies students, art lovers, motorcycle fans and Harley Davidson bikers attended last nights’ opening of the exhibition “ Motorcycle: Beschleunigung und Rebellion” at Europäische Kunstakademie in Trier. The exhibition and an accompanying program are part of the celebrations of the 5th anniversary of the Trier Center for American Studies of the University of Trier and was created in close cooperation between students, professors, artists and museum staff. In her welcoming comments, PAO Jeanine Collins congratulated the director of the Trier American Studies Center, Prof. Dr. Gerd Hurm, for his achievements in building up the Center in its first 5 years. The program accompanying the exhibition includes film screenings, music, lectures, a symposium, and a teacher training seminar. Professors Steven E. Alford and Suzanne Ferriss, from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida have contributed a companion volume to the exhibition and program.
The exhibition and program will run until June 27, 2009. More information:  http://www.motorcycle-trier.de
