Holy acronym!

Congressman Brad Schneider introduced his first piece of legislation this week, together with Republican U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta of Pennsylvania.

It’s called the American Manufacturing Efficiency and Restraining Investment Collaboration Achievement (AMERICA)  Works Act. The legislation would encourage industries nationwide to come together and agree on standards that define the skill sets they need in their workforce.

Legislation to improve employment opportunities for north suburban residents was introduced today by Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Deerfield). It is the first bill introduced by the 10th District Congressman.

Aimed at small and medium sized companies, the law proposed by Schneider and Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA) will help create a certification which schools and other training programs can issue to signify to a potential employer the credential holder is ready to step into a specific job.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) conducted an initial tour of businesses throughout the district during his first week returning home after being sworn into Congress on January 3rd. The tour kicked off at Schumacher Electric in Mount Prospect on Wednesday, January 9th and finished with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in Northbrook.
