Meet Our Partners
Working Together to Restore Our Coasts
NOAA’s more than 1,300 partners working on individual restoration projects, and 18 national and regional partnerships in coastal restoration, are among the most loyal and dedicated supporters of our work to preserve the future of our coasts. With the number of threats facing our coastal environment, there is simply too much work for any one organization to tackle alone. In addition, restoration is not a success without the partnership of coastal communities around the country. We understand that achieving success depends on long-term partnerships—relationships that set examples for others to invest in our planet’s future.
We work in collaboration with our partners to determine where we can have the biggest impact on restoring the nation’s coastal habitats, and where funding and technical assistance are needed the most. Partners contribute staff time, expertise in restoration and monitoring, and local knowledge of restoration issues, and they often bring additional funding to projects to leverage the federal grants. Contributions that come from our partners in restoration are dynamic—flowing wherever they are most needed to address the most pressing threat to our coasts at any time. This critical support system has an extraordinary impact on our work to conserve and restore habitat and the many thousands of species that call it home. Together, our science-based approach is uniquely positioned to ensure our mission to restore our coasts.
The NOAA Restoration Center’s Community-based Restoration Program funds projects directly and through partnerships with national and regional organizations. The program maintains an extensive listing of funding opportunities.
