I was stationed at the Stumps in '67, when it was nothing but desert with only a few permanent buildings.

I was stationed at 29 Palms '85-'87. Worked at DSSC. Also was on the base color guard when SgtMaj Sommers was there. Best Stateside duty I had as a Marine. Later became a Medic in the Army.

Marines with the Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct military free-fall training over Marine Corps Training Area Bellows, Oahu, Hawaii, as part of the 11th MEU’s Western Pacific 16-2 deployment, Oct. 18, 2016. During the training, the MRF employed two forms of aerial insertion: high-altitude, high-opening (HAHO), which consists of a free-fall from a high-altitude before the parachute is manually deployed; and double-bag, static-line, which consists of a line of jumpers exiting the aircraft from a low altitude before the parachute, which is tethered to a cable located inside the aircraft, is automatically deployed due to the force on the tether as the jumper is falling.

"Something I wrote that I try to live by is, choose the path of most resistance, your destiny is inevitable. It means to never take the easy way out of things, and always be willing to challenge and push yourself. At the end of a lifetime, we all have the same result and you do not want a life filled with the easy way."

I grew up in Salem, N.C., with my mother in the early years of my life. When I was still pretty young, I decided to move in with my father for more stability in my life.
