Our "Neighborhood"
Kleine Brogel Elementary School (KBES) is a small school supporting the American children of the USAF personnel stationed at Kleine Brogel Air Base, Belgium. The school serves children from Kindergarten through Sixth Grade in combination classes. KBES shares a complex with the local Belgian elementary school 15 August, 2012al events with the Belgian students.
Meeuwen, a city in the province of Limburg, is in northeastern Belgium, near the borders of Germany and Netherlands. Meeuwen is about 30 miles south of Eindhoven, Netherlands, and about 60 miles east of Brussels, Belgium. The area has traditionally been rural but in the past few years has experienced industrial growth.
Kleine Brogel Air Base, about eight miles from Meeuwen is small with no housing, so American families have the unique opportunity to live in the Dutch speaking Belgian community. Military support facilities include a small shoppette and an all-ranks club.
We maintain a relationship with our neighboring DoDEA School. After our students are promoted from the 6th grade, they will attend the American Unit School of the AFNORTH International School located in Brunssum, Netherlands, approximately 30 miles east of KBES. We also share certain administrative and educational support services with the AFNORTH International School.
KBES is a member of the Isles District in the DoDDS Europe area of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA).
Our Mission
The mission of DoDEA and KBES is to provide an exemplary education that inspires and prepares all students for success in a dynamic and global environment.
Goal 1: All students will improve targeted skills in mathematics across the curriculum.
Goal 2: All students will improve targeted skills in reading comprehension across the curriculum.
