School Advisory Committee (SAC):
The SAC consists of elected parents and teachers serving to advise the principal on school related matters for the improvement of the school. The committee serves as an advisory body, not a policy-making organization.
According to DoD Instructions 5105.49, local advisory committees will be established at each school. Details of implemention, procedures, membership, purpose, etc. are delineated in these instructions.
* The Alconbury Elementary School SAC meets at least four times a year.
* Meetings are open
to all staff, concerned parents and community members.
* Each spring, elections help to select both parent and teacher representatives.
*
Teachers are encouraged to run for election and get involved in SAC.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA):
The PTA charges a small, annual membership fee. The board meets once a month and accepts requests from teachers for funding items which cannot be purchased through normal DoDDS' channels. Teacher representatives are on the PTA board to serve as a liaison between the PTA and AES staff.
