COL MARIE DOMINGUEZBIOGRAPHY: COL MARIE DOMINGUEZ
COMMANDER, GENERAL LEONARD WOOD ARMY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
FORT LEONARD WOOD, MO

Colonel Marie Dominguez enlisted in the Army in 1979 as a Medical Laboratory Specialist, with service at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Colorado, and at the 10th Medical Laboratory in Germany where she was selected as the 7th MEDCOM Soldier of the Year. She transitioned to the Texas National Guard in 1984 to pursue higher education at the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Simultaneous Membership Program ROTC Scholarship. She graduated as the Distinguished Military Graduate and Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She was commissioned into the Chemical Corps and served as the Battalion Chemical Officer for the 47th Forward Support Battalion.

In 1992, she earned her Doctorate of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University and entered Residency in Family Practice at Tripler Army Medical Center, where she served as the Intern Class President and a Senior Resident. As a Board Certified Family Physician, she has served in many positions including Clinic Director and Residency Faculty at the Family Practice Residency Program in Ft. Bragg, NC; the Regimental Surgeon and the Regimental Adjutant for the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment; Commander of the Darmstadt Army Health Clinic; Division Surgeon for the 1st Armored Division; Deputy Commander for Clinical Services, Ft. Meade Medical Activity; Executive Officer, Army Medical Action Plan; a Special Assistant to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; Commander of the Joint Task Force Bravo Medical Element; and as the Chief of Professional Services for the 65th Medical Brigade/Deputy Commander for Clinical Services, MEDDAC-Korea & 121st CSH. COL Dominguez’s overseas tours include South Korea, Honduras, Haiti, Germany, Egypt, Iraq and Kuwait. She has participated in military exercises in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Romania, and Russia.

She earned her Fellowship in Faculty Development from the University of North Carolina. Her military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Chemical Officer Basic Course, AMEDD Officer Basic Course, Airborne School, Combat Casualty Course, AMEDD Officer Advanced Course, Command and General Staff College, Army Force Management Short Course, Medical Strategic Leadership Course, and has been selected to attend Senior Service College.
