Object Details

The portrait bust of Speaker Carl Albert was donated to the House by the artist, a fellow Oklahoman. Unveiled in a ceremony in Statuary Hall on March 3, 2004, it is the only bronze bust of a House leader in the collection. Albert had posed for the sculptor in 1994 for a full-length portrait commissioned by the Speaker’s home town. This object is a cast of the artist’s clay head study for that project.
