UTPD Honors Best Officers of 2011

The UT Police Department held a special award ceremony in December honoring some of its best officers of 2011. Officers nominated by fellow staff members received honors such as supervisor of the year, officer of the year, non-commissioned staff member of the year, and the community service award.

UT Culinary Institute to Offer International Cooking Classes

How about a culinary passport to the cuisines of the Middle East, Asia, Europe, or Africa? The Culinary Institute at UT Knoxville beginning Jan. 21, will offer the community a series of international cooking classes to explore the fare of eight countries. The classes will run through March 10 and are $99 each.
UT Hosts Conference to Encourage Women to Pursue Physics

UT Knoxville will host a conference this week to encourage women studying physics to buck the trend by staying in their technical fields and succeeding in their careers. The Southeast Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics is a three-and-a-half-day conference for undergraduate physics majors. This conference aims to increase the number of women in physics by providing support to female physicists.
UT Architecture Professor Receives College’s First ORNL-UT Joint Appointment

Professor Edgar Stach is the first faculty member of the College of Architecture and Design to receive a joint appointment with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the university. Through the year-long position at ORNL, Stach will research and develop technologies and methods to achieve cost effective, energy-efficient applications for high-performing retrofitted and new buildings.

Nominations Call for Ready for the World Citation Award

Nominations are now being accepted for faculty, staff, and students who have dedicated time and energy toward enhancing intercultural and international awareness among undergraduate students. The Ready for the World Citation Award will be presented at the Chancellor’s Honors Banquet later in the semester.
