1/16/2013 - SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, TEXAS -- Members of the Texas Rangers pitching and coaching staff made a stop at Sheppard, Jan. 15 as part of their Winter Caravan Tour.

The gesture gave Airmen and their families the opportunity to receive an autograph and photos of the 2011 American League champions.

Team members that visited the base included pitchers Michael Kirkman, Tanner Scheppers and Justin Grimm, along with Coach Dave Anderson and Rangers radio broadcaster Eric Nadel.

The visit was entertaining for everyone who attended; however, the real fun was had by the players themselves.

"We love getting to meet the fans, and especially love to visit the Air Force bases," said Michael Kirkman. "No matter how big or small the town, we really enjoy getting to come out and help support the men and women of our U.S. military."

The Rangers' visit was arranged by Sheppard's Information Tickets and Tours (ITT) office. The ITT tries to arrange as many events as possible to make Sheppard a fun and exciting place to be.

"Sheppard ITT is a top seller of the Air Force bases that sell Rangers tickets," said Marnie McKenzie, ITT Manager. "We were one of only two Air Force bases that the Rangers visited this year."

After the meet and greet session, the Rangers were treated to a demonstration of the security forces military working dogs. The security forces put on demonstrations of drug detection, as well as apprehension of a runaway suspect.

For information on Texas Rangers tickets, or any other events in the local area, visit the ITT website at www.82fss.com, or give them a call at (940) 676-2302 for more details on any event, as well as tickets to Rangers and many other sporting events.
