How ORISE is Making a Difference
The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) is helping the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other funding entities make informed decisions about the quality of science they pursue. In FY12, ORAU provided peer review and award ceremony support to several DOE Office of Science award programs.

ORISE improved its Web-based tools prior to the five-day U.S. Department of Energy’s Hydrogen Fuel Cells and Vehicles Technologies annual program evaluation and review.

Standardization of Scientific Peer Reviews
ORISE’s Scientific Peer Review Program is using a new initiative termed “inter-rater reliability” to establish standards or a level of agreement among reviewers when rating a proposal.
