Equipment Gift and Loan Program

Computers for Learning

Computers for Learning (CFL) places computers in classrooms and prepares K-12 students to contribute and compete in the 21st century. This CFL website connects the registered needs of schools and educational nonprofit organizations with available computer equipment donated from government agencies and the private sector. The CFL program replaces Science and Engineering Education Programs' Equipment Gift Program.

Computers for Learning allows government agencies and the private sector to donate surplus computers and related equipment to K-12 educational entities. Arrangements to donate this technology to K-12 schools and educational nonprofit organizations can be made through this site. Special consideration will be given to those with the greatest need (those located in a Federal empowerment zone or enterprise community).

To learn more about application for excessed technology equipment for educational enrichment in K-12 schools and non-for-profit educational organizations, see the Computers for Learning website.

Granting Equipment to Colleges and Universities, Post-High Schools, and Technical/Vocational Schools

The Used Energy-Related Laboratory Equipment (ERLE) Grant Program was established by the United States Department of Energy (DOE) to grant excess of used energy-related laboratory equipment to universities and colleges and other nonprofit educational institutions of higher learning in the United States for use in energy-oriented educational programs.

An institution is not required to have a current-funded project with DOE to participate in this program.

Applications for granting of available equipment must be submitted by an eligible, non-profit educational institution of higher learning via the application form on this web site. A responsible DOE operations office will receive and review the application.

The listing of equipment available through the ERLE Grant Program is accessible at no cost. The equipment listed in this database is available for granting; however, specific items may be recalled for DOE use and become unavailable through the program.

Visit the ERLE website for specific details and to review the guidelines and eligibility.
