1. Safety glasses must be worn when in the biochemistry laboratory.

2. No food or drink allowed in laboratory.

3. There is an eye-wash and shower, which may be used for emergency removal of splashed or spilled chemicals.

4. No chemicals or LN2 are to be poured down the drain. Contact your SBC host for disposal information

5. Key-card ccess to the biochemistry laboratory is available, 24/7

6. All hazard assessment information will be posted on safety board, unless “as needed” postings are specifically requested.

7. Only 1 liter dewars of LN2 for mounting crystals are allowed in cold room

Equipment

1. One microscope, along with work bench, is available for each beamline.  Crystals may be frozen on-site, using supplied stainless-steel dewars and cryo-gloves.

2. A cold-room (+5o C), containing one microscope and work bench, is available for shared use by both beamlines.

3. A fume-hood is available for heavy atom soaks and generating liquid propane or Freon for freezing crystals.

4. Weigh-scales and a pH meter are supplied; chemicals are generally not provided.

5. A small freezer is available for chemical storage.

6. CryoXeSiter for Xe and Kr derivatization may be used with staff assistance.

7. Milli-Q water is available.

8. If there is any additional equipment or supplies that you need please address your questions to your host during your visit or Stephan Ginell
prior to your visit

Cryo

1. SBC provides dewars, cryo vial holders, cryo gloves, face shields, cryo aprons, and safety glasses you will need.

2. SBC does not allow the use of glass dewars

3. SBC will provide forceps for holding vials.

4. Cryo tools and special dewar for handling the SSRL style robotic sample holders is available (SBC uses ACTOR or Uni-Puck sample holders for robotic sample mounting)

5. Cryo tools for handling ACTOR magazine or Uni-Puck are available.

6. Cryo-tongs, wands, and other specialized cryo tools should be provided by the user.

7. Propane and Freon equipment is available for freezing crystals.
