U.S. Maritime Policies Report

An Evaluation of Maritime Policy in Meeting the Commercial and Security Needs of the United States

In January 2009, IHS Global Insight completed a new study for the Maritime Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation, titled An Evaluation of Maritime Policy in Meeting the Commercial and Security Needs of the United States.

This analysis found that current U.S. maritime policy only support's the nation's domestic maritime trades and is not supportive of U.S. participation in the international shipping trades. However, the report also advises that possible policy reforms may lend more support for the industry.
