Scott joined NOAA in 2009 as Deputy Director of the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, North Carolina, and is currently serving as NCDC's Chief of Support Services. He holds degrees from Texas A&M and Colorado State Universities, and maintains research interests in numerical weather prediction, hurricane dynamics, and applied climatology among other areas. Prior to joining NOAA, Scott served in the Air Force for 24 years and held numerous leadership positions involved in the transition of new weather and climate technologies into operations, most notably as the Chief of the Numerical Weather Models Branch at Air Force Weather Agency. His final assignment was as commander of the Air Force's 14th Weather Squadron, which provides climatological support to the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community and other federal agencies.
