CSM Hunt’s hometown is Oceanside, California. He entered military service on October 1987 and graduated Advanced Individual Training as a Combat Medic.

Command Sergeant Major Hunt's awards and decorations include: the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (2nd OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (6 OLC), Army Superior Unit Award (2nd OLC), the National Defense Medal (1 Bronze Star), Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Expert Field Medical Badge, Senior Air Crewmembers Wings, the Air Assault Badge, and the Gold Recruiters Badge with two Sapphire stars, German Armed Forces Badge for Weapons Proficiency in Bronze (Schützenschnur in Bronze), German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency in Gold (Das Abzeichen für Leistungen im Truppendienst in Gold).

Command Sergeant Major Hunt is a Life Member in the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) and the DUSTOFF Association. He is also a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit.
