Hiring Process

Thank you for your interest in working at Sandia National Laboratories. Our goal is to make the hiring process as convenient and informative as possible.

Step 1: Create an account, and identify job opportunities.

Visit our Careers tool to search for jobs and register for an account. Registering will enable you to create your profile, save jobs that interest you, apply online, and receive updates about new openings.

Step 2: Apply.

Sandia accepts job applications through our Careers tool for active job openings only.

Resumes and cover letters

You will be asked to upload a resume or choose an existing resume from your profile. If you wish to include a cover letter, it must be part of the same file as your resume. You cannot make changes to your resume once it is uploaded; however, you can upload and select a different resume at any time before submitting your application.

Confirmation email

Once you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email within two hours. If you do not receive this email, log in to the Careers tool, and check the My Career Tools page to make sure you have actually submitted the application, rather than accidentally saving it as a draft.

Step 3: Interview.

You will be contacted by phone or email if you are selected for an interview. A member of our human resources team will work with you to schedule a time to discuss your background, experience, interests, and the job opening that you applied for.

If the job opening seems like a good fit for you, we’ll schedule interviews where you can meet the other individuals related to this position. We will also ask you to submit the following items:

  • Original, official academic transcripts for all of the universities that you have attended
  • A copy of your most recent pay stub
  • Three letters of recommendation or a list of professional references, including contact information

Step 4: Review and accept our job offer.

If you are selected for the job, we will contact you by phone and will send you an official offer letter. You will be asked to complete a drug screening (except in Montana) and provide information so that we can conduct a background screening.

Step 5: Begin your career at Sandia.

Congratulations on your new career at Sandia! You will be invited to participate in a new-employee orientation on your first day. The orientation will include presentations about working at Sandia and the resources and benefits available to you as a new employee.
