Video: Wet Wood is a Waste
Video by Jini Ryan Subscribe To This Journalist
EPA offers tips on how to properly use a moisture meter to test firewood before using in a wood-burning stove or fireplace. Wet wood can create excessive smoke which is wasted fuel. Burning dry, seasoned firewood with a moisture content of 20% or less can save money and help reduce harmful air pollution- indoors and out. Moisture meters that allow you to test the moisture level in wood are available in all sizes and can cost as little as $20.
