GRAF IGNATIEVO AIR BASE, Bulgaria-Tech. Sgt. Richard Walker, 48th Operations Support Squadron, and Capt. Vesselin Aroenski, an approach instructor with the Bulgarian air force, watch the radar as a MIG-29 makes its landing approach. Sergeant Walker shares Air Force procedures for air traffic controllers and oversees operations, making sure everything runs smoothly during the tri-lateral exercise Immediate Response 2006.

Getting ready
GRAF IGNATIEVO, Bulgaria- Tech. Sgt. Michael Zucco, Senior Airman Jonathan Taylor and Senior Airman Seth Roberts, 48th Munitions Squadron, prepare a GBU-12 500 pound inert bomb, with a MAU-169 computer control group, here as a MIG-29 taxis by. The MAU-169 follows a laser to the target. A laser can either be sent from the F-15E Strike Eagle or from a servicemember on the ground. The munitions troops built the bombs for the F-15 flying simulated ground attack with the Army as part of the tri-lateral exercise Immediate Response 2006, with the U.S., Bulgarian and Romanian militaries.

RAF LAKENHEATH, England -- Russian crews weigh cargo prior to loading it onto a Russian AH-124 July 11 on the RAF Lakenheath flight line. The equipment will support operations of the 492nd Fighter Squadron while deployed in support of exercise Immediate Response ’06 in Bulgaria. The purpose of this USAREUR-led trilateral exercise with the U.S. Army and Bulgarian and Romanian forces is to demonstrate the ability to rapidly deploy a tailored forward-stationed and deployed strategic reserve force.
