USADF began programming in Nigeria in 2001

Focus: Supporting community associations involved in value-added agricultural production and processing, aquaculture and serving disabled populations.

Marginalized: USADF grants in Nigeria support several women’s cooperatives as well as disabled groups such as autistic individuals. USADF operates in the most marginalized region of Nigeria, the Niger Delta, which is a region that lacks basic infrastructure and suffers from environmental degradation from oil production and ongoing conflict. USADF funds groups in Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi State and areas currently troubled local terrorism.

Conflict: USADF operates in regions, such as Kaduna, Kano and the Niger Delta, that are subject to wide-spread violence and instability. USADF projects provide vital support to community associations to grow their income generating activities. USADF has grants with mixed Christian and Muslim groups in areas of unrest.

Food Security: USADF grants support farming cooperatives in the production of cassava, sorghum and maize and fish, staple food products in Nigeria.  These initiatives decrease Nigeria’s large food deficit and increase income and availability of nutritious food at the grassroots level.
