932nd Airlift Wing forecaster meets Gen. David Patraeus
12th Operational Weather Flight Meteorlogist Capt. Chris Higgins greets General David Petraeus at the Combined Air and Space Operations Center in Southwest Asia. Captain Higgins was part of the CAOC team selected to brief General Patraeus during a quick stop-over there in August. Captain Higgins is serving as Deputy Chief of the Weather Support team at the CAOC. As a civilian back in Missouri, Chris is a meteorologist with Fox 2 News in St. Louis; but, this summer he has answered the call of service to country.
"It all happened pretty quickly. It was an unannounced visit and we only had a couple of minutes to get ready. Funny, I do weather in front of tens of thousands of people every day back home and never get nervous. In front of this one very powerful man, I got nervous. I just let my TV instincts take over and everything went fine," he said. The captain is deployed from his home unit, the 932nd Airlift Wing, 12th Weather Flight, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. He will return some time in the fall.
