USADF began programming in Zambia in 1984 and reopened the program in 2004

Focus: Supporting agricultural enterprises, including organic farming as Zambia has been identified as a Feed the Future country. USADF'S program is to advance broad-scale, sustainable economic growth and help to diversify Zambia's economic base. Specifically, support will be provided to Zambian small businesses and small scale agricultural producer groups to secure the technical, managerial, and marketing assistance they need to enhance their capacity and profitability.

Marginalized: USADF grants in Zambia support creating jobs and income at the grassroots level. Out of school youth and small holder farmers are targeted as grant recipients.

Food Security: USADF grants support farming cooperatives in the production of dairy, groundnuts, fish and rice in Zambia.  These initiatives decrease a nationwide reliance on food imports and promote better access to nutritious food in local communities.
