The Metabolic Clinical Research Unit (MCRU) opening ceremony
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), in collaboration with the NIH Clinical Center, opened the Metabolic Clinical Research Unit (MCRU) in 2007. Located on the fifth and seventh floors of the Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center, Bethesda, Md., the MCRU houses specialized, state-of-the-art facilities that allow researchers to conduct cutting-edge research on the physiology and causes of obesity. An important component of the Strategic Plan for NIH Obesity Research, the MCRU is designed to foster a collaborative research approach, bringing together experts from the fields of metabolism, endocrinology, nutrition, cardiovascular biology, gastroenterology, hepatology, genetics, and the behavioral sciences.
For more information about the MCRU, please contact Monica Skarulis, M.D., Director, MCRU, NIDDK; or Kong Chen, Ph.D., Director, Metabolic Research Core, NIDDK.
