Training Support and Schools Directorate

"Training Today's Leaders for Tomorrow's Army"

What is the TSSD?

What is the Training Support and Schools Directorate (TSSD)?

We exist to help determine the best ways to train in Initial Military Training (IMT). We are part of the Initial Military Training Center of Excellence staff located with the Fort Jackson Army Training Center where we have been historically and with better access to IMT units and the US Army Drill Sergeant School.

We are a multi-discipline organization with experts across the training spectrum. The Doctrine and Training Development Division Manages and develops the Basic Combat Training, Drill Sergeant, and Advanced Individual Training, and several other Plans of Instruction for the Army. The Physical Readiness Division is the Army Proponent for Physical Readiness including the TC 3.22-20 which is being convereted to FM 7-22, the Master Fitness Trainer Course revisions of the Army Physical Readiness Test as well as changes to the Improved Physical Readiness Uniform. The Leadership Development Division is the instructional arm of Initial Military Training conducting more than 50 classes each year in TRADOC Pre-Command, Master Resiliency, Company Commander and First Sergeants, Advanced Individual Trainer Platoon Sergeant and numerous other courses.

Our mission is to execute the best training and make decisions for the over 150,000 new Soldiers that enter the Army every year for the Active, Reserve, and National Guard components.
